bigfido (HP LaserJet P3015x)

bigfido lives in the Scientific-Computing Lab (Olin-B143). It prints at 1200 dpi and has two large paper trays. It can print single-sided or duplex.

Windows

Support for this printer is available through Microsoft for Windows 7. You can download drivers for Windows XP from HP.

Linux

bigfido is available on the math department's main print server and is the default printer for the department's Linux machines. You can also print to bigfido by choosing it in xpp or specifying -Pbigfido on the command line.

For you do-it-yourself types, look at the hplip and gutenprint packages for your distro.

Big Fido was the leader of a gang of magically enhanced dogs in Terry Pratchett's Discworld series. While vicious and tough enough to merit the name, Big Fido was actually an escaped poodle, whose ambition exceeded his abilities.
