The products of sets allows us to describe many complicated surfaces as the product of two simpler curves. This is especially important in the field of computer aided graphical design, since we are discovering many surfaces which we cannot currently render through computer aided design. Ian Weiner and Prof. Weiqing Gu extended this idea of set products to define the Minkowski action of sets of quaternions on other sets. I will be using this Minkowski action to generate surfaces, especially canal surfaces, in a new way, and will be exploring its applications to Laguerre geometry.
