Calendar for 2010–2011

Spring 2010 Semester

Thesis proposal submitted and approved by Thesis Advisor and Thesis Coordinator.

Fall 2010 Semester

Thesis students will present one 10-minute and one 20-minute talk in the Thesis Seminar. The schedule of talks is available.

September 14 (Tuesday)

Create your thesis webpage and make your thesis proposal (PDF) available through it. Details in the templates section of the thesis tools page.

Have both your advisor and a second reader for your thesis selected, approved by your thesis advisor, and submitted to the thesis coordinator.

November 19 (Friday)

Submit a draft of your midyear report to your thesis advisor.

December 3 (Friday)

Submit the final version of your midyear report to your advisor, second reader, and the thesis coordinator by noon.

Spring 2011 Semester

Thesis students are expected to give a talk or present a poster at an academic conference. (Often the MAA Spring Meeting.)

January 25 (Tuesday)

Inform the thesis coordinator of the date and location of your spring talk or poster session.

March 4 (Friday)

Submit the final draft of your final thesis to your advisor and the department's system administrator.

April 15 (Friday)

Submit the final (for grading) version of your thesis to your advisor, second reader, the department's system administrator, and the thesis coordinator.

April 18 (Monday)

Final version of your poster (ready-to-print, approved by your advisor) for Presentation Days must be submitted to the system administrator.

May 2–4: Presentation Days

Your poster will be on display and you will be giving a talk about your work sometime during this period.

May 6 (Thursday)

The publication version of your thesis (formatted according to the thesis formatting guidelines and all other deliverables is due to the thesis coordinator (see thesis-submission checklist for details)

Deadlines shown in color are guidelines for the student and thesis advisor; individual advisors may choose to move these deadlines forward.

Note that missing these deadlines may adversely affect your grades. Submission of the final version of your thesis (and associated materials) is a requirement for graduation.
