Guidelines for Senior Thesis: Grading
Grading will be based upon the student completing the following requirements:
- Attendance at all the thesis meetings is required. Students will be allowed to miss a single meeting in the fall semester before their grades are impacted by their absence.
- Each student is required to keep a notebook journaling the student's research progress. It is expected that this journal will be legible, organized and current.
- Each student is required to give oral and/or poster presentations as detailed in the Calendar. It is expected that the student will work toward obtaining a high degree of professionalism in these presentations as the year progresses.
- Each student is responsible for submitting the series of drafts and final versions of the thesis and associated problem statements, annotated bibliographies, etc. as outlined in the Calendar. All deadlines for drafts and final reports must be met. This includes getting appropriately completed versions of drafts and reports to both the individual advisors and the second readers in a timely manner.
- Each student is responsible for maintaining a webpage, which will initially contain a description of the project and which will eventually archive the thesis electronically.
The grading will be based on the quality, organization, professionalism, and originality of the student work; evidence of consistent progress and improvement in oral and written communication skills is also highly valued.
