This issue marks the inauguration of the News of the Section column. It is our intention to share all the news that’s fit to print. Do you have new faculty in your department? Have you had retirements? Are you offering a seminar or workshop? Have your faculty or students received special honors? Tell the Southern California Section about it! FYI: Only 9 of the 29 regional MAA sections have 2 meetings a year and the Southern California Section is one of them! We are fortunate to work in such an active Section. Congratulations go out to recently promoted Associate Professors: Lisette de Pillis, Harvey Mudd Welcome some recently hired mathematicians to the Section: Jorge Aarao, Claremont McKenna Coll. Congratulations to Karrolyne Fogel of California Luthern University on being named a national Project NExT Fellow for 1999-2000.
