New RCA releases

CD REISSUES AND NEW MATERIAL

In August and September of this year (1998), RCA re-released a few old JD albums. Here's a press release, of sorts, with the details (note that, while written in the future tense, all releases described are now out, tho you may have trouble finding RMX-Mas before the holidays).

BMG USA will release four CDs in August and September:
Rocky Mountain Christmas
Spirit
JD
Forever John
The re-release of Rocky Mountain Christmas will have 5 bonus tracks: "Jingle Bells" from Whose Garden, "White Christmas" from 1975 (previously unreleased!!!!!), "Perhaps Love" (solo), "The Music Is You", and "Dreamland Express" (???) as bonus tracks. JD will have side 1 of Whose Garden, and Spirit will have side 2 of Whose Garden as bonus tracks, excluding "Jingle Bells", which was put on the Christmas CD.
And September 29 is slated to bring Forever John, consisting of 12 unreleased performances, 10 of them never-before-heard Denver songs.

Note: I can't imagine anyone thinking that putting "Dreamland Express" on Rocky Mountain Christmas or chopping up Whose Garden Was This are good ideas, but there you go. Another example of the bizzare, profit-driven treatment of John we've come to expect from the... um (be nice, Greg)... individuals... at RCA. I'm certainly looking forward to Forever John in any case.
