Andrew J. Bernoff

Well everybody, I have arrived safe and sound in Claremont, CA and as promised I have put together a web page with some pictures of the journey. Hopefully, they won't take too long to load on your browser.

This is a picture of me on the road . Cool glasses, eh?
We had a long HOT drive down route 5 through the California central valley, including such wonders as passing an ostrich farm and stopping at the Apricot Tree family restaurant.
This is my co-pilot Tom. He took this photo himself (in addition to being cute, he is quite talented).  Tom not only did such essential things as feeding the pilot snacks, he also did part of the driving.
Soon we arrived at the math department at Harvey Mudd College. The mascot of Harvey Mudd College is the 'Wart" which refers to the square raises rectangular bricks, roughly four inches on a side, found on all the buildings. Pretty weird, eh?
This is one of the courtyards at Mudd; it features an Italian fountain and lilypads. Seems like a nice place to eat lunch.
This is my office at Mudd; I'm slowly getting the boxes unpacked, but it is going to take awhile!
Next, I headed over to the housing office. They gave me the keys to my new home. It is located only two blocks from the department! The whole neighborhood is very pretty; tree-lined streets and well-kept single story homes with some beautiful and lush landscaping.

The apartment has a lovely interior, with beautiful hardwood floors, a spacious kitchen and a fireplace with an archaic but functional gas log. Our first night was a bit chaotic; first the refrigerator didn't work, then we found out that we had no hot water. None the less we persevered; when the electricity went out for miles around, we decided that it was time to find a hotel.

The moving van showed up the next morning with all my belongings. Many things that I haven't seen for almost two years. It is really nice having a place called home again. Tom was incredibly helpful in unpacking and added a bit of flair to my house with his interior design skills (everybody knows mathematicians have no fashion sense).

Well, that is an update for the moment. . . . thank you all for being so supportive of me over these pass two years.
