## Spacetime

One model for the structure of space-time is

R^{3,1}. In this model there are three possible spatial coordinates and one time coordinate. We can try to understandR^{3,1}using a simpler model,R^{1,1}, in which there is only one space coordinate (that is, only one direction to move in) and one time coordinate. The Special Relativity Worksheet investigates "distances" between points in the

R^{1,1}model of space-time. The problems are adapted from a college-freshman-level physics course created by John Boccio, with his kind permission.
